Real Wedding Story: Live Wedding Painting at Seaworld Resort
Here’s the real wedding story of live wedding painting in the middle of a pandemic!
Back in August of 2020, I had the pleasure of painting for the gorgeous Loranda and Dan, while they joined their two families to become one at Seaworld Resort on the Gold Coast, Australia.
It was such a beautiful event and because guests were unable to dance or mingle with each other (thanks COVID), Loranda and Dan hired lots of different entertainers to keep the night flowing, and it was amazing!
The first live wedding painting I did was at their ceremony on the edge of the dolphin enclosure. Of course, I added those cheeky dolphins, as they almost stole the show trying to get in on the ceremony action. I included only the bride, groom and bridal party for this one, showcasing a lot of the enclosure too. Many of the guests were unsure on why I was there, which tends to happen at the very beginning. Because there isn’t much down on canvas, I get a lot of questions, and conversations spark up.
After a while, when they can see the painting evolve, they understand and find it really amazing. I then have regular pop in’s, where they watch the progress for a bit, and chat about who is in it, who should be made taller and more good looking! Ha ha
I then followed them into the great hall for the second one, which was more abstract; with the first dance, cake and a few tables around the edge.
It was a wonderful day and night, and despite COVID’s attempts to ruin it, was one of the most enjoyable weddings I have been too. Everyone was lovely, the band was amazing, the magician had me stumped and fully believing in magic, and the speeches were beautiful.
I asked Loranda and Dan to write a little bit about their experience.
“We first saw live wedding painters on Pinterest when searching for unique wedding ideas. We loved the idea of having a live painter but didn’t think something like this would be available in Australia. A quick Google and we found Poppy.
Arranging the live wedding painter was easy with Poppy. A couple of quick messages confirming dates etc and we were all booked in….until our booked wedding venue went bankrupt.
We reached out to our vendors including Poppy who was most understanding and stood by until a new venue was booked. Soon after (in fact 3 weeks) COVID started turning everything upside down. Again, Poppy was there on stand by. As it turned out our wedding went ahead and Poppy liaised with the venue ensuring their COVID plan and measures were met.
On the wedding day Poppy slipped in like a ninja – so much so that many guests didn’t realise she was making magic during the ceremony. Soon after though, guests were intrigued and very excited to hear Poppy was accompanying us to the reception.
Poppy is kind, friendly and very personable. We are so pleased we found her and would highly, highly recommend booking her for your wedding or any special event.”
