How to deal with bad days as an artist.

Hey there, fellow artist! We’ve all been there – those days when the creative juices just aren’t flowing, and the inspiration seems to have taken a holiday. It can be tough, especially when you’re self-employed and the work isn’t as steady as you’d like it to be. But fear not, because I’ve got some tips to help you deal with those bad days and reignite your passion for painting!

  1. Embrace the Lulls: It’s important to remember that every artist goes through slow periods. Instead of getting discouraged, use this time to recharge and work on a business, rather than in it. Clean up your processes, create new content, brainstorm new business ideas. You can even explore new hobbies or interests. You never know what might spark your creativity!

  1. Find Inspiration: Take a break from your usual routine and seek inspiration from other forms of art. Visit art galleries, watch movies, read books, or listen to music that moves you. Sometimes, stepping outside of your comfort zone can lead to unexpected bursts of creativity.

  1. Practice Self-Care: It’s essential to take care of yourself, both mentally and physically. Make time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation, whether it’s yoga, meditation, or simply taking a long walk in nature. A healthy mind and body are crucial for a flourishing creativity.

  1. Experiment and Play: When you feel stuck in a rut, give yourself permission to experiment and play with your art. Set aside a day or two just for fun, without any pressure to create something perfect. This freedom can often lead to breakthroughs and new ideas.

  1. Network with Other Artists: Surround yourself with a supportive community of fellow artists. Join local art groups, attend workshops, or connect with other painters online. Sharing experiences and ideas with like-minded individuals can provide valuable encouragement and fresh perspectives.

  1. Embrace Imperfection: Remember that it’s okay to make mistakes and take risks. Embracing imperfection can lead to unexpected beauty in your work. Allow yourself to let go of the need for perfection, and you might find a newfound sense of freedom in your art.

  1. Stay Positive: Focus on the aspects of your work that bring you joy and fulfillment. Remind yourself of the reasons why you became a live wedding and event painter in the first place. Keeping a positive mindset can help you push through the tough times and emerge stronger on the other side.

I know bad days can bring you down but take heart and know that these challenging moments are just temporary bumps in the road. Keep the faith, stay true to yourself, and before you know it, you’ll be back in the groove, creating breathtaking masterpieces once again. You’ve got this! We got this! 😉
