Two weeks ago, iampoppy was lucky enough to attend the Queensland Brides weddings & honeymoon expo. What an amazing weekend it was, with over 400 brides to be coming through my booth to have a chat. By the end, I was completely exhausted, but over the moon with the response.
I met so many couples happily searching for the perfect suppliers for their magical day, and got to chat with many about invitation design. A few that I distinctly remember were a couple wanting a kayaking and climbing theme, a vineyard including beloved pets, a Thailand themed wedding, an American BBQ wedding theme, vintage invites, beautiful floral pieces which matched my flyers and a couple wanting to use their engagement photos as the invitation. I can only hope to get to work on these designs, as they are so full of personality and energy, it gives me a new challenge for each invite.
There was only one downfall to my time at the expo, and that was the size of my booth. It was a teeny tiny odd shaped both which stopped the flow of people, therefore making many have to line up to get a look at my display. Thankfully everyone was more than happy to do so, which was great. Next time, I will definitely go bigger, especially with all the new invites I will have to display thanks to some wonderful new clients!
I love doing these shows, as I feel very connected to the industry and get to meet some other wonderful suppliers and learn about their journeys. I ended up next to a lovely lady Rika from Creative Loop LED tree hire renting out her hand made cherry blossom lighted trees. They brightened up our end of the expo wonderfully, almost like a beacon in the hall. I’m sure I have her to thank for much of my success that weekend! I find that it is so wonderful being able to share our experiences, pick up tips and feel like we are part of a bigger team. Especially since so many of the little booths are independent traders who no doubt work alone, as I do.
I’m not sure when my next expo will be, but I’ll be sure to let you all know and hopefully see many familiar faces there! I will definitely be attending the Queensland Brides weddings & honeymoon expo again!
